Video games are different from other software
LudoTIC is the only French usability and UX company that specializes in video games.
Since 2004, LudoTIC has invested in research and development on video game UIs to offer our clients in-depth knowledge and expertise related to these products.
Although a video game is technically software, the differences between gaming media and software are important and explained in more detail in:
- Our scientific articles (see in particular the chapters Integration of an ergonomic approach into the video game creation process and The ergonomics of digital and physical environments and objects in the book “The ergonomics of digital and physical environments and objects”)
- Our blog posts
Tried and true methodology
Optimizing video games requires a dedicated approach and skills.
Our approach seeks to optimize the human-machine interaction of gaming by using specialized heuristic analysis grids to audit video games. We also use eye tracking data to evaluate:
- Difficulties encountered during a turn
- Players’ stress levels
- Information overload
The results offer objective indicators whether or not the game is suited to the targeted user profiles.

We offer video game designers a user-centric approach that goes beyond simple playtests by gathering objective and quantitative data about the gaming experience.
Video game usability means that the game:
- Only contains challenges intended by the game designer
- Does not contain elements that hinder the player experience
Our past projects
Internationally successful video games like TopSpin II, Top Spin III xBox, and Top Spin III Wii.
